In the year 2000 an initiative was launched called Action Against Crime. This was started by Senior Superintendent Eben McLaren, who was inspired by the Transformations video and challenged by the escalating crime in Johannesburg and elsewhere in the country. He asked the Churches to come alongside the Police and pray. Pray as the Apostle Paul urged “ that requests, prayers, intercession and thanks giving be made for kings and all those in authority that we may live quiet and peaceful lives in all holiness and godliness.” 1 Timothy 2v1
Meetings were started in Johannesburg, links forged with others in Cape Town and still others in South Africa. Eben still holds fast to the vision that he had nearly 8 years ago. Longing to see the churches support and pray for their local police station, to see men in authority come to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. To see God’s Kingdom established.
The police service still needs and in many instances has asked for the church to come alongside them and pray. Recently Graham Fletcher kindly offered to take us “Action Against Crime” under wing and incorporate us into the wider vision of the ministry Lotsha. We fit in with “Police Station Prayer Partners PSPP”
Wonderful and exciting things are taking place in various stations. It is our desire to see others build on what is already happening and start up prayer for stations that are not covered . Communication is essential and what better way than a website and e-mail.
May we appeal to all churches to consider an outreach to your local police station, to establish regular prayer at the station and to bring a message of hope to men and women who are fighting against huge odds.
Please make contact and let us help you or encourage you and build with you. (If you are already doing this - please let us know so we can include you on the Database in case others may like to join you in your area)
However, more important, we ask you and your church to join hands with us and other believers across the country as we seek God’s blessing and healing for our land.
We pray that the Lord would strengthen you in your ministry and increase all that you are doing.
With love in Christ Jesus,
