The new school sign, and some of the excited kids crowded into a tiny "tin-shack" for protection from the heat. They are so excited about their new "school" and greet us so enthusiasically each time we visit them

Before we could begin the building project the large heavy steel “zozo” had to be moved out of the way into another spot on the tiny property.   26 children must continue to be taught and looked after and the Pre-school must continue as normal as possible while building operations take place around them.   Over the weekend of the 17th Esther managed to convince some strong men to do the almost impossible task of moving the container and re-positioned it.   A woman of purpose who will tackle the impossible, we told her it had to be done, she said it would be done, and it was done.
Well done, Esther.

Delivery of the materials needed to begin the project has started.
Once the builder started digging the trenches for the foundation, we all realized that water was to be a major problem.   From Monday, when the builders started on the work until Thursday of this week, no running water has been available in Diepsloot.

This lack of water created a major setback for the work as we did not forsee this problem.   As a result of this as well as a problem with the delivery of the materials on Wednesday, we are now faced with additional labour costs, time delays as water has had to be collected for building operations as well as for use in the pre-school, as well as an extra amount for a water storage tank not budgeted for.

Thursday 22nd
We visited a company who agreed to supply a 500 litre JoJo water container at a discounted price for the project.

Friday, 23rd
Friday I went along to fetch the 500 litre container.   Horror of horrors, it would not squeeze into the space in the car.   In panic I desperately phoned around, and Colin agreed to drive his bakkie to load it, and to deliver it through the Friday traffic and along the ‘impossible road’ through squatter camp.   A friend in need is a friend indeed - Christian friends like this are out there.  What a celebration when we arrived at Disneyland with the water container.   Tiny tots watched our every move, unaware of fuss around them.
